Licensed Mental Health Counselor
I believe the relationship between client and therapist is the foundation of psychotherapy. My first priority is to understand what you’re going through—and to make sure you know that I understand. I provide a safe, nonjudgmental space where you can speak openly about parts of your life that may be difficult to discuss elsewhere.
I work with adults who are struggling with anxiety, professional challenges, work-life balance, work stress, relationship difficulties, intimacy and sexual concerns, and problematic or compulsive sexual behaviors, tech professionals, early career professionals, and those in mid-life. You may find yourself repeating painful patterns in relationships, having difficulty communicating your needs at home and work, struggling to deepen or leave a relationship, or feeling caught between the life you have and the life you want. You may understand intellectually why you do what you do, yet still find yourself unable to change it.
My goal is to help you develop a deeper understanding of yourself while finding practical ways to create a more fulfilling life in and out of work.
I believe therapy works best as a collaborative process, grounded in what matters most to you. Together, we’ll clarify your goals and explore not only the problems that brought you to therapy, but the underlying beliefs and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
I use an integrative approach that draws primarily from relational and psychodynamic therapy, along with cognitive behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and attachment-based perspectives. We may explore strategies and habits that once helped protect you but now interfere with your relationships or cause you pain. We may also pay attention to what happens between us in the therapy room, since patterns that occur in other relationships can sometimes emerge in therapy and give us an opportunity to understand them differently.
My style is warm, collaborative, curious, and direct. I believe meaningful change often involves taking interpersonal risks, challenging long-held assumptions about yourself and others, and learning to tolerate the uncertainty that comes with doing something differently.
I am LGBTQ+, poly-, and kink-affirming, and comfortable talking openly about sexuality and relationships without judgment.
My graduate training at the California Institute of Integral Studies emphasized the integration of Western psychology with Eastern contemplative traditions, including mindfulness as a way to deepen self-awareness and work with anxiety and emotional distress.
Throughout my adult life, I have been involved in both sitting and movement-based meditation practices. These experiences inform my appreciation for the ways our emotions are experienced not only through our thoughts, but through the body.
Earlier in my career, I worked in community mental health settings in Brooklyn and with adolescents and families in the San Francisco Bay Area.
